About Obinna Udenwe:

Obinna Udenwe is one of the youngest most published short story writers in Nigeria. He is an author, a youth/democracy activist and a Civil Engineer.

He has a lot of love for farming and runs a large pineapple farm in Abakaliki. His family owns a large rice farm, and runs a piggery, poultry and fishery business.

In May 2014, during the commemoration of Nigeria’s democracy day, Obinna was honored with the award of the State Literary Icon by His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi.

Obinna Udenwe in 2012 received the African International Achievers Award from AFIA, UK. In 2009 he won the prestigious National Top12 Award – a National award for Nigerian youth activists organized by Youngstars Development Initiative, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and British Council, Nigeria. As a writer Obinna Udennwe was shortlisted for the 2012 Nigeria Literary Star Search and longlisted for the 2013 Naija Stories Best Short Contest.

Obinna is the initiator and the lead-facilitator of a creative writing workshop – the ‘Senator Chris Nwankwo Youth Creativity Class’, that holds in Abakaliki, in South Eastern Nigeria and trains between 20 to 30 budding writers annually. He initiated the ‘Creative Wings Short Story Prize’ that seeks to reward African writers below 40 living anywhere in the world.

Obinna Udenwe runs a youth led organization ‘Ugreen Foundation’ which works to promote constructive citizens participation in democracy, leadership and knowledge building. The organization has championed community based projects in Nigeria and fought government bodies and agencies severally on human right issues. He owns a very lovely cat named after one of his favourite writers, Mario Puzo.
